The social housing company ‘Zonnige Kempen' pays attention to sustainable development in each of it's projects: the social and spatial aspects of extension projects in urban centers, the use of ecological materials, and a sustainable energy provision. In the design phase of a new site with 13 dwellings for rent, it was noticed that the street next to the site would be renewed in the building construction period. At that moment, Zonnige Kempen decided to develop a demonstration project with innovative energy techniques in which the street would be used as an asphalt collector for space heating purposes.
